COVID-19 Update

Join us as we gather this Sunday at 10 a.m. in-person or online at Spread the word and invite a friend!

We will continue to offer the virtual gatherings, and we want to urge those who are at risk, and any who feel it is best for their families, to stay home and join us online. We look forward to gathering soon with those who feel safe to join us (remember, we will be wearing masks and practicing social distance).

Glenwood Church of Christ Covid-19 Task Force members work collaboratively to keep all members and visitors safe from COVID while in the building or on the property. The task force members diligently monitor COVID-19 cases in Smith County, the East Texas Region, Texas and United States in order to make informed recommendations regarding COVID-19 to the Glenwood elders. Please note that scheduled events may be cancelled by the Glenwood elders if participants who will by attending the event have Covid-19, or are in quarantine from exposure to COVID-19.

In Our Prayers

  • Seth Cowan is in Meadow Lake Skilled Nursing. Please pray for a quick recovery. For those wishing to send cards or give him a call, he is in room 506. The number for the facility is (903) 526–5599.
  • Ally Randall’s father, Rick Beemer, is slowly recovering from a heart attack. He is experiencing some weakness, so please pray for his strength and rehab in the weeks to come.
  • Please pray that Beckie Payne has a smooth recovery from recent surgery.
  • Please continue to remember Cathy Sampson in your prayers as she goes through rehab.

Glenwood Car Show

Mark your calendars for Classics, Hot Rods & More! Join us at Glenwood THIS Saturday, October 23rd and help vote for the 2022 Golden Car winners. Coffee, donuts, and food trucks will be on site. The event free to the public and to enter a car is $20. 

Trunk or Treat

This year’s annual Trunk or Treat will take place on Saturday, October 30 from 3–5 p.m. Candy (or donations), trunks and volunteers needed! If donating, please make checks out to Glenwood COC: Children’s Ministry–Trunk or Treat. Candy can be dropped off in the red buckets outside the Worship Center and church office. Volunteers are needed to decorate trunks and hand out candy. Be on the lookout for a sign up sheet! 


It’s time again for the Wayne D. Boshears Center for Exceptional Programs Annual Poinsettia Sale and Fundraiser. Order by November 16. If you would like to purchase and deliver a plant to the porch of one of our shut-ins, contact the church office at (903) 509-9494, or click here to complete the form digitally.

Lunch Buddies

We have an opportunity to serve the school in our community, right around the corner, at Rice Elementary. Volunteers are needed each day from 10:25 a.m.–12:50 p.m. to assist during the lunch period for each group of students. You will have a chance to interact with some great kids and teachers and really bless the faculty and staff at Rice. Worship Highlight

We continue to work through the Book of Revelation during our Sunday worship gathering. As we do, we see how so many songs, and ideas found in the songs we sing, are based on these incredible texts. We will sing a new song this Sunday called “Behold Our God.” It is profound, it is moving, and we look forward to worshiping together. Click to watch, worship, and listen

Glenwood Quilters

The Glenwood Quilters meet every Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. All are welcome – no experience necessary! If you’re interested, please contact Phyllis Davis (see Family News email for phone number).

Bridal Shower

Save the date! A drop-in bridal shower for Kelsey Rosenlieb is scheduled for Sunday, December 12, from 2–4 p.m. at the home of Chris and Joanna Neel. Kelsey and husband-to-be John Scalsky are registered at Williams-Sonoma, Target, and Dillards

Ladies’ Bible Class

Our Ladies Bible Class meets Tuesdays from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. in The Gathering Room. We are going through a study of Ephesians entitled, “Practice Resurrection, A Conversation on Growing up in Christ” by Eugene Peterson.

World Bible School

Through World Bible School, we have an incredible opportunity to share Jesus with others from the other side of the world, and as near as prisoners in the Texas Dept. of Corrections near Palestine, TX. If you’d like get involved as a study helper, contact Tootsie Hooper at (see Family News email for phone number) or sign up on the sheet outside the Worship Center. We’ll meet at Glenwood each Monday morning at 9 a.m. in Rooms 6 & 7.

Mobile Haircuts

Sunday Morning Gathering

We invite you to our classes for all age groups on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. The following are classes to choose from:

Meals with Jesus (new class) 

  • Conference Room class – Rooms 1 and 2
  • Young Professionals and College and Singles – Adult 3
  • In-betweens – Adult 6 and 7
  • Gathering Room

Youth Ministry

  • RISE – Gym

Children’s Worship

  • Nursery (infants–age 2): Available during class and worship
  • Cradle Roll Class: 9:00–9:45
  • 3-5 Year Old’s: 9:00–9:45 in the Orange room
  • Kinder–5th Grade: 9:00–9:45 in the room across from the Children’s Worship room
  • Children’s Worship (2nd and 3rd Grade): Children’s Worship room
  • Children will be released from worship prior to the sermon. Parents must escort children to Children’s Worship and pick them up during the last song of the service. Please note that children will not be released to individuals other than parents/legal guardians or parent-appointed adults.

Benevolence Center Update

The Benevolence Center is currently closed to the public, and as a result, the clothes pantry is closed. Because of this, the Benevolence Center is not accepting any donations at this time. Prepared bags of food are still being offered through the food pantry door each Wednesday from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Karing Kitchen is also offering prepared meals through the door each Monday evening hosted by area churches.
