COVID-19 Update

Join us as we gather this Sunday at 10 a.m. in-person or online at Spread the word and invite a friend!

We will continue to offer the virtual gatherings, and we want to urge those who are at risk, and any who feel it is best for their families, to stay home and join us online. We look forward to gathering soon with those who feel safe to join us (remember, we will be wearing masks and practicing social distance).

Glenwood Church of Christ Covid-19 Task Force members work collaboratively to keep all members and visitors safe from COVID while in the building or on the property. The task force members diligently monitor COVID-19 cases in Smith County, the East Texas Region, Texas and United States in order to make informed recommendations regarding COVID-19 to the Glenwood elders. Please note that scheduled events may be cancelled by the Glenwood elders if participants who will by attending the event have Covid-19, or are in quarantine from exposure to COVID-19.

In Our Prayers

  • Our deepest condolences to the family of Coye McKinney who died January 8. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Please keep the family in your prayers during this time. 
  • Matt Blake is recovering at home from surgery to remove an infection in his foot. 
  • Charlie Jo Chavez recently had surgery on her left knee. Please pray for Charlie to have a smooth recovery as she goes through physical therapy. 
  • Please be in prayer for the cousins of Brenda Wiggins and Kaye Abston, John Holland and Nathan Bass.
  • The Bond family asks that you pray for Dawn as she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and will be undergoing treatment. The Bonds would like to invite you to follow this link and register to be a part of their journey. 
  • We are glad to report that Lynn Sherrod’s tumor has shrunk. He will meet with the oncologist soon to determine next steps. Prayers are very appreciated.
  • Please continue to remember Cathy Sampson in your prayers as she goes through rehab.

Forest Song

January 28-29, 2022 | Enjoy a weekend of worship, learning new songs, and enjoying great fellowship hosted by Shiloh Road Church of Christ. Shiloh Road Church, Glenwood Church, Fearless4You Music (a ministry run by our own D.J. Bulls that serves churches across the globe with a cappella worship resources), along with OneCity Worship are sponsoring this event. The event is FREE! (But we do ask that you please RSVP). Deep in the Heart Women’s Conference

Southside Baptist Church in Palestine, TX is hosting a Women’s Conference on February 18–19. Tammy Whitehurst, along with seven other Christian women will lead this encouraging time. Click here for more details and to register.

Ladies’ Bible Class

Our Ladies’ Bible Class has resumed Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. in the Gathering Room. We are going through a study of Ephesians entitled, “Practice Resurrection, A Conversation on Growing up in Christ” by Eugene Peterson. We hope to see you there!

Lunch Buddies

We have an opportunity to serve the school in our community, right around the corner, at Rice Elementary. Volunteers are needed each day from 10:25 a.m.–12:50 p.m. to assist during the lunch period for each group of students. You will have a chance to interact with some great kids and teachers and really bless the faculty and staff at Rice. Sunday Morning Gathering

Our adult classes meet on Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. and are currently studying 1 and 2 Timothy. Classes meet in the following locations:

  • Young Professionals and College and Singles – Adult 3
  • In-betweens – Conference Room
  • Gathering Room
  • Adult 6 and 7

Youth Ministry

  • RISE – Gym

Children’s Worship

  • Nursery (infants–age 2): Available during class and worship
  • Cradle Roll Class: 9:00–9:45
  • 3-5 Year Old’s: 9:00–9:45 in the Orange room
  • Kinder–5th Grade: 9:00–9:45 in the room across from the Children’s Worship room
  • Children’s Worship (2nd and 3rd Grade): Children’s Worship room
  • Children will be released from worship prior to the sermon. Parents must escort children to Children’s Worship and pick them up during the last song of the service. Please note that children will not be released to individuals other than parents/legal guardians or parent-appointed adults.

World Bible School

Through World Bible School, we have an incredible opportunity to share Jesus with others from the other side of the world, and as near as prisoners in the Texas Dept. of Corrections near Palestine, TX. If you’d like get involved as a study helper, contact Tootsie Hooper at (see Family News email for phone number) or sign up on the sheet outside the Worship Center. We’ll meet at Glenwood each Monday morning at 9 a.m. in Rooms 6 & 7.

Glenwood Quilters

The Glenwood Quilters meet every Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. All are welcome – no experience necessary! If you’re interested, please contact Phyllis Davis (see Family News email for phone number).

We will not be meeting on Tuesday, December 21.

Mobile Haircuts

Dapper haircut trailer will be parking in the Glenwood parking lot on the first Monday of each month. Appointments are required and fill up fast! To book, visit, or call Mandy Glasscock at (903) 316–7269.

Benevolence Center Update

The Benevolence Center is currently closed to the public, and as a result, the clothes pantry is closed. Because of this, the Benevolence Center is not accepting any donations at this time. Prepared bags of food are still being offered through the food pantry door each Wednesday from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Karing Kitchen is also offering prepared meals through the door each Monday evening hosted by area churches.
